The Ukrainian National Police surrounded the Kiev house of Viktor Medvedchuk, the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life (OPZZH) party, nicknamed “Putin’s godfather.” This was reported by the newspaper “Ukrainian Truth”.

About thirty police officers and security guards are on duty near Medvedchuk’s house. The police blocked the street adjacent to Medvedchuk’s house and searched the cars.

According to the publication, on the afternoon of February 21, several cars and minivans arrived at Medvedchuk’s house, onto which they loaded the opposition deputy’s property, including bulletproof vests and weapons. Police officers who have received information about a suspicious movement near Medvedchuk’s home should see if he is under house arrest, as the court ruled.

Back in May 2021, the people’s deputy was charged under the articles “Treason” and “Violation of the laws and customs of war.” The Pechersky District Court of Kiev chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of round-the-clock house arrest. In October of the same 2021, the politician was charged with a new charge, this time under the articles “Treason” and “Assistance to the activities of terrorist organizations”. According to investigators, he was allegedly involved in the supply of coal from areas of Donbass not controlled by Kiev, which took place in late 2014 and early 2015.
