Over the weekend, in a zone of tolerance in the Jirón Zepita sector, in the Cercado de Lima, capital of Peru, four gunmen attacked four people (three women and a bystander). As a result, two deaths and one injury were reported.
Among the fatalities is a woman from Quevedo, Los Ríos province, identified as Elvia Álvarez Litardo, 22, the Police of the neighboring southern country reported.
Shooting began in the citadel of Quevedo and ended outside the IESS hospital; killers went to finish off the wounded
This version was confirmed by relatives of the victim, who lived in the parish of 24 de Mayo de Quevedo, and who leaves a minor under 7 years old as an orphan.
According to the Police, the Ecuadorian woman was a sex worker and worked at night on the street where the attack occurred, which took place on the night of Saturday, February 19; although relatives of the victim denied that she was engaged in that activity.
They reported that the woman traveled to Peru a month ago for study purposes.
The Police indicated that the assassins were traveling on two motorcycles, according to the videos of the security cameras of the place.
Experts found 29 bullet casings at the site. It is being investigated whether the attack is related to disputes over quotas and mafias dedicated to prostitution.
In Quevedo, a political relative of former Assemblyman Patricio Mendoza is murdered
Relatives of the victim carry out the respective procedures to repatriate the body, but have not confirmed whether it will reach Quevedo.
The other deceased woman was of Venezuelan nationality, but resided in Ecuador, the Police reported. (I)
