Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron concluded talks that lasted almost two hours. This was reported by Agence France-Presse.

The leaders of the two countries discussed how to prevent a large-scale war in Europe, as well as the situation around Ukraine. Details of the telephone conversation have not yet been disclosed.

As emphasized in the Elysee Palace, which announced this telephone conversation a day ago, “the talks between the two presidents are the last possible and necessary effort to avoid a major conflict in Ukraine.”

In recent weeks, Putin and Macron have had several telephone conversations, and on February 7, the President of the Fifth Republic visited Moscow in person, announcing that he managed to prevent the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This did not prevent another escalation of conflicts between Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of the DPR and LPR from breaking out. On the territory of the unrecognized republics, mobilization has been announced and the civilian population is being evacuated to the regions of Russia.
