The threat of war in Ukraine exists, but it is not yet clear whether the parties have made a “final decision” on this matter, said German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock.
According to her, Germany does not yet know whether the “attack” of the Russian Federation on a neighboring country can be considered a “determined matter”. However, even now this threat “has a very real impact on air traffic, the economy and the daily life of people in Ukraine,” RIA Novosti reports.
The diplomat called the statements of the authorities of the regions of Donbass not controlled by Kiev “a staging to justify military intervention.”
Burbock stressed that the G7 participants are in solidarity with Kiev and “are on its side.” She also warned that sanctions await Moscow in the event of not only a direct “invasion” of Ukraine, but also any violation of its integrity and sovereignty.
According to Burbock, those responsible for this crisis face “the most massive consequences – economic, financial, political, strategic and personal.” The West has already developed a whole package of sanctions, the minister recalled.
In addition, the German diplomat said following the results of the Munich Security Conference that the G7 foreign ministers invited the head of the Ukrainian department, Dmitry Kuleba, to participate in the G7 meeting.
