A planned exercise of the strategic deterrence forces took place in Russia, during which ballistic and cruise missiles were launched. This was reported by the press service of the Kremlin. The exercises were observed by the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.

“The tasks envisaged during the exercise of the strategic deterrence forces were completed in full, all the missiles hit the assigned targets, confirming the specified characteristics,” the message says.

Aerospace Forces successfully launched Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles. Ships and submarines of the Northern and Black Sea Fleets launched Kalibr cruise missiles and Zirkon hypersonic missiles at sea and ground targets.

In addition, in the Astrakhan region, at the Kapustin Yar test site, a practical launch of the Iskander ground-based cruise missile took place. From the position area of ​​the Plesetsk cosmodrome, the Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched at the Kura test site on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

Also, as specified in the Kremlin, air-launched cruise missiles fired from Tu-95ms long-range strategic missile carriers hit targets at the Pemboi and Kura training grounds. From the waters of the Barents Sea, the strategic nuclear submarine Karelia of the Northern Fleet launched the Sineva ballistic missile at the Kura range.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been visiting Russia since yesterday. At a joint press conference after the talks, Putin said that he would give Lukashenka “to command” the strategic nuclear forces.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the planned exercises of the Russian forces are preceded by notifications to countries through various channels, therefore “no one has any questions or fears – it does not cause anything.”
