EMERALDS
A structural fire consumed a mixed construction house in the San Mateo parish, Sagüe sector, in Esmeraldas, on the afternoon of this Friday the 18th.
Apparently, a short circuit in the cables of the public electrical network would have caused flames that contaminated belongings and furniture.
Gisella Gonzáles, owner of the house, reported that two gas cylinders for domestic use exploded, causing damage to the structure of the house.
Firefighters took about an hour to douse the flames.
An adjoining house was also partially affected by fire and water.
David Loor, deputy chief of the Esmeraldas Fire Department, said that the real causes of the fire are unknown.
“The team in charge of investigating these events will report on the true cause of this incident,” he said.
Residents of Sagüe requested solidarity aid for those affected. (l)
