MANTA, Manabi

The ECU911 system will expand its coverage in Manta, a city where it currently has a room to attend emergencies. This Friday morning, Juan Zapata, general director of ECU911, and Marcos Zambrano, rector of the Eloy Alfaro Lay University of Manabí (Uleam), signed an agreement for the Manabi university to prepare studies for the construction of the new ECU911 building In this city.

Zapata indicated that the Municipality of Manta donated a piece of land so that the structure of the new building that ECU911 will have in Manabí can be erected there, since the first one is in Portoviejo; while Uleam will carry out the studies.

Misuse of 911 calls during emergencies exceeds 50% in Manabí

The also head of the COE at the national level indicated that it was necessary to build a building in Manta for comprehensive emergency care and in accordance with the needs of the city.

“Here in Manta we only have one room that does not respond to the needs of the city, and that has been our interest since we took office as director of ECU911: that Manta, like other cities, such as Quevedo, Zamora, Cañar, have the infrastructures according to the territorial needs”, declared Zapata.

The amount to be invested will depend precisely on the studies carried out by the technicians located by Uleam. Zambrano indicated that they aspire to deliver the environmental, soil, structural, architectural and electrical studies in 45 days, so that this merger of entities that contribute to this construction process of the new ECU911 building is strengthened.

“This process interests us as a city, for tourism, production and for the welfare of citizens, and that it can be built immediately. This building is in the airport area (northeast of Manta),” Zambrano said.

The rector of Uleam pointed out that this is the first agreement signed with the head of the national COE, since another agreement to be defined in the coming weeks will be to create a technical career related to lifeguarding.

“These people have a great vocation, they have an apostolate, but they lack the academic part. So, we are going to create a technical career that has to do with these assistance services, to professionalize these people”, indicated the head of Uleam. (I)
