Kiev Mayor Volodymyr Klitschko is dissatisfied with Germany’s refusal to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons. He stated this to German Foreign Minister Annelene Berbock during the Munich Security Conference, after first thanking the minister for the five thousand helmets provided to Ukraine.

“Thanks to Germany, Germany has allocated a couple of billion euros to restore infrastructure,” Wladimir Klitschko stressed. “But now the situation is critical, we are standing at the front in front of one of the most powerful armies in the world, and every aggressor, even if he thinks about attacking Ukraine, must understand that he will pay a high price.”

Wladimir Klitschko recalled that Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guaranteed by the United States, France, Great Britain and Russia – the Budapest Memorandum, and lamented that everyone had forgotten about this decision.

In turn, the head of the German Foreign Ministry reminded the mayor of Kiev of the financial assistance provided to Ukraine, and added that Berlin was studying the list of weapons provided by the Ukrainian side. According to Burbock, who has already promised Russia tough sanctions in the event of an invasion of Ukraine, but has declared her readiness for dialogue with the Russian Federation, providing Ukraine with lethal weapons could “lead to destabilization from within.”
