The British Meteorological Service issued a ‘red’ warning for Friday due to a severe storm that is approaching the country’s borders, BBC News reports.
Storm Eunice could bring wind gusts of up to 140 km/h to the southwest of England and South Wales, according to forecasters. There is a threat of damage to homes, disruptions to public transport and power outages. Schools in Wales and Somerset will be closed to the public. Millions of people living near the coastlines of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, as well as the south coast of Wales, have been advised to stay at home.
The rest of England has been declared an “orange” alert level.
BBC weather presenter Simon King said the predicted storm was comparable to the Burns Day Storm in January 1990, which killed about 50 people.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the storm caused by the cyclone “Ilenia” hit the north of Germany, paralyzing part of the country.
