The sixth wave of coronavirus may come to the northern capital in the summer. Alexei Borovkov, Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, did not rule out such a scenario during his speech at a press conference, commenting on the data of the developed mathematical model for the spread of COVID-19.
According to him, the current wave of incidence will gradually fade until June.
““Recovery” will last until the beginning of summer, that is, all spring. And then different events. For example, summer is coming, vacations, visits, subspecies of strains can be brought in, white nights in St. Petersburg, and so on, and so on, ”said Borovkov.
According to the candidate of technical sciences, any “local impact on the socio-economic system” can occur, which will lead to a new peak in the incidence. So, the next subspecies of the strain can come to the city due to open air traffic, the head of the world-class Scientific Center of SPbPU “Advanced digital technologies” cited an example.
Earlier, the expert said that the peak incidence in St. Petersburg has already passed.
