The Khimki City Court of the Moscow Region satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for the recovery of more than 19 billion rubles in favor of the state against the founder of the Rolf company, Sergei Petrov, and JSC Rolf.
According to TASS, Rolf Motors LLC and Rolf Estate St. Petersburg LLC are also co-defendants in the lawsuit. The court decided to recover the amount of the claim jointly and severally from all the defendants.
Lawyer Alexei Kupriyanov said that the defense would appeal the decision.
The Prosecutor General’s Office substantiated its claims in the lawsuit by the fact that Petrov managed the Rolf company, being a State Duma deputy, and did not declare his true income. Petrov rejected the demands of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
At the end of June 2019, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against the head of the Rolf car dealer, Sergey Petrov, and a number of company executives about the withdrawal of 4 billion rubles abroad. Petrov, the former general director of the car dealer Tatyana Lukovetskaya and the director of the Cypriot company Panabel Limited Georgy Kafkalia were arrested in absentia and put on the wanted list. Anatoly Kairo, director of the business development department of the auto dealer holding Rolf, was placed under house arrest. Currently, the case against him is being heard in the Cheryomushkinsky Court of Moscow.
According to investigators, in 2014 Kairo participated in the implementation of a criminal scheme organized by Petrov, as a result of which, according to the investigation, funds received from commercial activities were transferred to the accounts of a Cypriot company controlled by him in the amount of 4 billion rubles.
Rolf was founded in 1991. Its portfolio includes 21 automotive brands and one motorcycle brand. The company’s dealer network includes 59 showrooms in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
