Hackers linked to the Russian government were able to penetrate the computer network of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Energy and other departments of Ukraine, according to The Washington Post.
According to the source of the publication, a senior official of the US administration, Moscow now has the opportunity to suspend the work of electricity, transport, financial system and telecommunications in Ukraine.
“We do not know if they intend to do this, but we are working with Ukraine to strengthen their cyber defenses,” the message says.
Earlier, the websites of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and banking applications stopped working in Ukraine.
Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of involvement in cyberattacks. The Russian authorities have repeatedly denied such accusations.
As a result of a cyberattack on February 15, the websites of the Ukrainian military departments stopped opening. The website of the Ministry of Defense displays the message: “The site is under maintenance.”
