Russian hockey players beat the “surprise team” of the Olympics and reached the semifinals

The ice hockey team of the Russian Olympic Committee held a quarterfinal match against the Danish team, which on the eve defeated the strong Latvian team in 1/8. The Danes, which, by the way, includes six former NHL players, have become a real sensation of the Olympics.

The composition of the Russian national team was the same as in the lost match with the Czech Republic, which had already left the tournament, losing to the Swiss:

Ours continued to have an advantage, but got the return puck in the second period – the Danes successfully played the majority. The Russian puck stubbornly did not want to fly into the Danish gates, until Nikita Nesterov put it under the crossbar in the 35th minute.

In the third 20-minute period, the Swiss did not give up playing at all, and sometimes they created chances at the gates of Fedotov. For 4.11 Vyacheslav Voinov realized the numerical advantage. The Danish team attacked just desperately, almost closing the gap in the score, but Russia won – 3:1, advancing to the semi-finals.

Earlier, Slovakia entered this stage, defeating the Americans in shootouts. Switzerland and Finland, Sweden and Canada will still compete for the right to get into ½.
