The deputies of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly agreed to celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday in October. The decision was made at a plenary session on Wednesday, a Rosbalt correspondent reports.
Deputy Boris Vishnevsky proposed also introducing Grandfather’s Day and Grandmother’s Day, and then Mother-in-Law’s Day.
“There are many different relatives that deserve attention. Have you thought along these lines?” he ironically asked Konstantin Sukhenko, Smolny’s representative in the Legislative Assembly. He promised to think.
Communist Alexander Rassudov picked up the idea, saying that “mother-in-law is sacred.”
“We have the largest layer of anecdotes dedicated to her. And she was left without a holiday. This, of course, is humiliating for the mother-in-law,” the deputy added, asking Vishnevsky to come up with a legislative initiative so that everyone would stand up for the rights of the mother-in-law.
Recall that in 2020, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the celebration of the All-Russian Father’s Day on the third Sunday of October. Petersburg deputies brought the city legislation in line with the federal one.
