“There will be no war anyway”: the majority of Rosbalt readers are not preparing for a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine

The vast majority of Rosbalt readers do nothing amid rumors of an imminent war between Russia and Ukraine. This is evidenced by the results of a survey in which more than 5,000 people took part.

To the question “How do you react to rumors about the imminent start of a war between Russia and Ukraine?” 56% answered “no way, because the war will not start.”

Another 18% of the participants chose the option “no way, I’m a fatalist.”

Only 6% decided to buy additional foreign currency, and 5% wanted to “figure out how to get to the front” if the war did start.

In a previous survey, more than half of Rosbalt’s readers identified themselves as not believing that Russia and Ukraine could enter into a direct armed conflict this week.

Recall that Bloomberg reported that Russia’s attack on Ukraine would allegedly take place on February 15, and US President Joe Biden said that, according to Washington, “invasions” are expected on the 16th. Against this background, other states called on their citizens to leave Ukraine, the richest businessmen fled from there, airlines began to cancel flights to the country, and the ruble collapsed.
