Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva made her debut in the individual competition at the Beijing Olympics today and immediately took the lead after performing in the short program. Prior to that, she became the owner of a gold medal in the team figure skating tournament as part of the Russian national team. The awards ceremony has been officially cancelled.

Valieva took to the ice after a doping scandal. The 15-year-old athlete passed a positive doping test during the Russian Championship in December 2021. But its results became known already during the 2022 Games. Nevertheless, Camila managed to avoid suspension from the competition.
The day before, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published Valieva’s version of why her doping test gave a positive result. “She argued that the infection was due to the drug that her grandfather took,” said Denis Oswald, head of the IOC disciplinary commission. How the athlete could accidentally use the drug is not specified.
Approximately the same version was successfully used for the Russian athlete Sergei Shubenkov. In December 2020, banned acetazolamide, which is used as a diuretic, was found in his doping test. However, after the investigation, it was recognized that the Russian was innocent, and he avoided sanctions. According to the athlete himself, the banned substances got into his doping test because of the pills that his son took.
Shubenkov even commented on the scandal with the Russian figure skater on Instagram.
By the way, some people have some doubts about the ingestion of substances from the tablets of her grandfather into the body of a 15-year-old girl.
The version with grandfather’s medicine, as always, caused a flood of skeptical comments on social networks. Many, again by tradition, try to joke about this topic. “Rosbalt Like” has compiled a hit parade of the 20 most characteristic humorous remarks on the topic.

And in order not to get up twice – a few jokes about the table of Vladimir Putin mentioned in the title.
By the way, it is already known that if Camila takes one of the prizes, then, according to the decision of the IOC, the awards ceremony will not be held.
