The State Emergency Service of Ukraine sent a request for international assistance to NATO in case of possible large-scale emergencies. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the alliance.

According to the press service, the request mentions the country’s preparation for “situations of a different nature” that may affect the civilian population. The request for international assistance, according to the alliance, has been formalized in accordance with all necessary procedures and sent to the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC). Among other things, Kiev requested demining equipment, off-road vehicles and medical supplies.

On February 14, Western media reported that Russian units concentrated on the border with Ukraine left their place of deployment and began to take actions similar to preparing for an attack. Some long-range artillery and rocket launchers have been moved to firing positions, according to a US administration official.

Also on February 15, it became known that the people’s militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic opened fire on Ukrainian positions. And before that, the LPR reported the death of a soldier as a result of shelling from Ukraine.

In addition, it was reported that Russia’s representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, told The Guardian on Tuesday that Moscow has the right to launch a “counterattack” if it deems it necessary to protect Russian citizens living in eastern Ukraine.

Prior to this, CNN reported that the Russian Federation had allegedly prepared a task force to conduct an “operation in the East of Ukraine under a false flag.” According to media reports, the Russian military allegedly received training in urban combat and the use of explosives.
