Four-time Olympic champion Norwegian Emil Hegle Svendsen is convinced that Russian biathlete Eduard Latypov, who won third place in the 4 × 7.5 km relay at the Beijing Olympics as part of the Russian team, needs the support of fans, TASS reports.
“I send my thoughts and feelings to Latypov, I also experienced this in 2014. Support him Russians,” Svendsen wrote on Twitter.

Today at the Beijing Olympics before the final firing line in the relay, the Russians were ahead of the nearest pursuer by almost a minute and claimed gold medals, but Latypov made five misses and went two penalties, eventually leading the Russian team only to bronze medals.
Later, the athlete himself apologized to the team and fans for the unsuccessful performance at the last stage of the men’s relay, TASS reports.
At the same time, the biathlete’s personal trainer Viktor Nikitin, like Svendsen, believes that Latypov needs words of support.
For his part, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that Russian biathletes showed a decent result in the relay at the Beijing Olympics, and they need the support of fans to perform well in the mass start.
