On the occasion of remembering the celebration of Valentine’s Day, the diocese of Loja held a religious ceremony this last Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the cathedral church, where 21 couples sealed their ecclesiastical marriage.
The Eucharist was developed for free precisely to motivate couples to marry in the Church.
The religious celebration took place at 5:00 p.m. and was presided over by Walter Heras, bishop of the diocese of Loja, and Willan Arteaga, rector of the El Sagrario ecclesiastical parish. The mass ended after 6:30 p.m.
After 23 years of civil marriage, Leonardo Guerrero decided it was time to declare love to his wife at the altar and in front of God. He considered that it was time to make the religious vow and described as something good the opportunity that the diocese of Loja gave them, because the process of sealing their religious commitment was facilitated.

Verónica Esparza together with her husband, after a year and eight months, also took the step of getting married before God. As she pointed out, they had already planned to hold the religious ceremony, but due to the pandemic they had to suspend it; and, taking advantage of the marriages that the diocese facilitated, they went to receive the sacrament.
Jonathan Aucapiña specified that God was his main motivation for getting married in the Church, because —according to him— it is fundamental for a good relationship in the future.
In his case, after three and a half years of courtship, six months ago he contracted a civil marriage and they took advantage of the occasion, the date and the reason to do it religiously. Now, she said, he expects prosperity and happiness, fostering that in her children as well.
After the religious ceremony, the couples left the temple and, in front of it, on Bernardo Valdivieso street, they danced the traditional waltz in front of the eyes of passersby passing through the area. Thus, they sealed their commitment and kept an important memory of getting married taking advantage of the opportunity of the diocese. (I)
