Maxim Kadakov, an auto expert and editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, does not advise Russians to postpone the purchase of a new car, as prices will continue to rise. He stated this in an interview with the publication “People’s News”.

According to the expert, prices will continue to rise, so it will no longer be possible to “win in the money”. “I do not quite agree with the statement that the purchase of a car must be postponed, because a person who does not really need a car can do it. (…) It is already obvious that prices will not fall. From the fact that you postpone the purchase of the car that you need, you will practically not win money, there are no prerequisites for cars to start getting cheaper, ”Kadakov noted.

At the same time, he admits, “if the (global) shortage of electronic circuit boards is overcome, prices will calm down, and there are hopes that they will already begin to” calm down “in the second half of this year.” “However, this does not mean that they will rapidly go down,” the expert warns.

“Recommended retail prices, which are rewritten by manufacturers, will only be rewritten upwards or will stop at some point. They won’t go down under any circumstances, that’s obvious. The only thing that can go down in the future is dealer cheats that dealers do based on our legislation, ”the expert emphasized.

We also recall that earlier analysts of the Avtostat agency calculated that the inhabitants of Russia spent 3.05 trillion rubles on the purchase of new cars last year. This result was 22% higher than the level of 2020, becoming a record. The previous record for the amount of money spent was recorded in 2019 (2.57 trillion rubles). Thus, for the first time, the financial capacity of the new car market exceeded 3 trillion rubles.

We also add that, according to AEB estimates, sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Russia decreased by 3.7% year-on-year in January 2022 (after falling by 19.9% in December, 20.4% in November, 18.1% in October, 22.6% in September, by 17% in August, by 6.5% in July last year) to 91.662 thousand units. Thus, sales have been declining for the seventh month in a row.

At the end of 2021, sales of new passenger cars and light commercial (LCV) vehicles in Russia last year increased by 4.3% compared to 2020 to 1.667 million units, but fell in December by 19.9% to 133.47 thousand units. units.
