Now in Ecuador, everyone over 18 years of age will be able to access the third dose or booster of the COVID-19 vaccine. This, once the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) decided to advance and open the inoculation for the age groups that were missing.

Until this Sunday the 13th, only those over 40 years of age who had completed five months from the day of their second dose or complete scheme, as well as staff from strategic sectors and citizens with pre-existing diseases or immunosuppressed, could access the third dose. .

Instead, the general population aged 18 to 39 had to wait six months, the time established by the Ecuadorian health authorities for the application of the reinforcement.

“The reinforcement will be done with biologicals from Pfizer or AstraZeneca. In the case of CanSino, contraindications must be evaluated, especially in pregnant women, breastfeeding women, those over 61 years of age or travelers, ”explains the MSP in a statement.
