Kiev requested an emergency meeting with the member states of the Vienna Document of Confidence

The Ukrainian authorities are convening an emergency meeting with the Russian Federation and other member states of the Vienna Document on Confidence and Security Building Measures in Europe.

Earlier, Kiev asked the Russian Federation for clarifications on military activities in areas adjacent to the territory of Ukraine with the requirement to provide a response within 48 hours. According to Ukrainian data, there was no response.

“We are taking the next step. Ukraine is convening a meeting with the Russian Federation and all participating states within the next 48 hours to discuss the strengthening and movement of Russian troops along our border and in temporarily occupied Crimea,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel, announced the need to introduce preventive sanctions against Russia “in order to deter the aggressive intentions of the Kremlin.” In turn, Michel reaffirmed the EU’s strong and unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
