Publications about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine are the result of a conspiracy by the authorities of Western countries and the media in order to escalate artificial tension. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry, dedicated to the publications of publications from different countries on the situation around Ukraine.
The department calls articles on this topic in the world media “a massive and coordinated stuffing of false information in geopolitical interests, in particular, in order to divert attention from their own aggressive actions.”
Conspired, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, journalists from the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Canada, France, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Romania, Montenegro, Portugal, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Finland, Sweden, Australia and Japan.
“At the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, the global information space faced a media campaign of unprecedented scale and sophistication, the purpose of which is to convince the world community that the Russian Federation is preparing an invasion of the territory of Ukraine. The media, contrary to the standards of honest journalism, spread outright disinformation, engaged in manipulations in order to introduce the thesis about Moscow’s aggressive intentions into public opinion, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a release.
They are outraged that the world media ignored Moscow’s theses about Russia’s commitment to a peaceful diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements, references to the national sovereign right of states to redeploy their armed forces on their territory, as well as statements about the defensive nature of military exercises conducted jointly with armed forces of Belarus. “In addition, Moscow’s concerns were ignored, indicating that it is the West that is promoting its military infrastructure to the borders of Russia, providing military-technical assistance to Ukraine, arming it, sending its military instructors, conducting large-scale and dangerous military exercises,” complain in the foreign policy department.
“Essentially, the Western media served the political order of their governments by co-ordinated dissemination of unreliable information, participating in a full-scale information war,” the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
