The Center for Economic and Business Research (CEBR), against the backdrop of aggravation near the Russian-Ukrainian border, called the “price” of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. According to the organization’s employees, from 2014 to 2020, the war with the militant formations of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass, as well as the loss of the Crimean peninsula, cost Kiev $280 billion. This is more than the pre-war GDP of Nezalezhnaya, which was estimated at about $200 billion, UNIAN points out.

At the same time, directly because of the bloodshed in the Donbass, the country’s budget is short of $14.6 billion annually. More than $8 billion “annual” he receives less due to the entry of the Crimea into the Russian Federation, which, according to the vast majority of Russians, is a “return to their native harbor.”

It is noted that only tax payments for this period Ukraine did not receive more than $48 billion, and foreign investment – $72 billion.

Why the study provides data only until 2021, it is not explained, as well as whether the country could have already lost $300 billion due to Crimea and Donbass.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the Donbass conflict, emphasizing that this is an “internal Ukrainian” civil strife. The countries of the West, meanwhile, are frightened by the possible “intervention” of Russian troops on Ukrainian soil. Read more here.
