A long table separated French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting in the Kremlin due to the fact that the French leader refused to take a PCR test for coronavirus in Moscow, Reuters reports citing an anonymous source at the Elysee Palace.

According to the source of the agency, Macron had to choose: either he takes the test in Russia, or maintains a social distance. “We understood that refusal would mean no handshakes and this long table. But we could not allow the president’s DNA to fall into their hands, ”the source said, explaining the reason for the refusal to test.

Another source said that Macron took a PCR test in France before leaving, and also did an antibody test with the help of a personal doctor after arriving in Moscow.

Recall that Macron and Putin met on Monday in Moscow to discuss the situation around Ukraine. The interlocutors sat on opposite sides of a table about four meters long, which became the subject of numerous discussions in the media and social networks.
