The North American aerospace agency NASA is concerned about the planned increase in the number of Starlink Internet satellites in low Earth orbit. It is reported by Zvezda with reference to documents published by Bloomberg.

“The security of the International Space Station (ISS) and other NASA vehicles could be compromised (in the event of a significant increase in vehicles in low Earth orbit),” the text says.

NASA experts believe that a large number of spacecraft will interfere with the work of programs to protect the Earth from asteroid impacts.

Now the number of Starlink spacecraft is about 2 thousand, and another 30 thousand satellites are planned to be launched.

Earlier it was reported that the American private aerospace company SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, lost about 40 Starlink Internet satellites out of 49 launched into orbit on February 3 as a result of a geomagnetic storm. In addition, Musk also released a video and photos showing a giant mechanized arm turret called “Mehazilla” that will be used to “catch” a Super Heavy launch vehicle and a Starship spacecraft upon landing.
