Petersburg Investigative Committee sent a request to Israel for the extradition of the accused in the murder of Talkov

The Petersburg Investigative Committee appealed to the competent authorities of Israel regarding the extradition of Russia’s former music manager Valery Shlyafman, accused of the murder of singer Igor Talkov. This was announced by the head of the 2nd Investigation Department of the 1st Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Main Investigation Department of the TFR in the city, Anton Breido, in an interview with Interfax.

“A request for legal assistance has been sent,” Breido said.

This happened after Shlyafman’s charges were toughened in October 2021: from negligent murder (Article 106 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR) to aggravated murder in a way dangerous to the lives of many people, and attempted murder of the former director of singer Aziza Igor Malakhov in a similar way way (clause “e” article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR; article 15, clause “e” article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR). The charge was brought in absentia.

According to the representative of the Investigative Committee, the reclassification of Shlyafman’s actions is due to the fact that the investigation had reason to consider the shooting intentional. “According to our version, Shlyafman wanted to kill Malakhov out of personal dislike; Shlyafman, of course, had no intent to kill Talkov, but it so happened that he missed. Therefore, we have before us the so-called murder with indirect intent, ”Breido explained.

When asked about the prospects of sending this case to court for trial in absentia if Israel refuses to extradite Shlyafman, he said that it was premature to talk about such a possibility: the investigation is ongoing.
