As reported by Edwin Herrera, director of roads for the Prefecture of Pichincha, the paving of this section will be replaced by a new layer of asphalt, they will also install the sewer system for rainwater.
The budget for this work is $ 400,000. The authorities requested the understanding of the users of this road.
Section Cununyacu – El Tingo
This road that connects the valleys of Tumbaco and Los Chillos has suffered a series of damage to its structure, several potholes and cracks in the asphalt make it difficult for the nearly eight thousand vehicles that pass through here.
Alexis Sarzosa uses this route every day to get to his place of work. But, since the last few weeks he has encountered a greater number of potholes and his vehicle has suffered a series of damages. “Driving on this road is a mess and you don’t see a job from the authorities despite paying a toll,” he emphasized.
From the El Tingo sector to the Ruta Viva it is in charge of the Pichincha Prefecture. Edwin Herrera pointed out that the increase in gaps in the road is due to several works carried out by the Metropolitan Public Company of Potable Water and Sanitation of Quito (Epmaps) on the change of pipes.
“We sent some letters requesting that they stop fixing, but the answer was silence, they did not respond,” he argued.
From this newspaper, Epmaps was consulted, however, until the publication of this informative note, there was no response.
This week, routine patching work was carried out on the road, according to the Prefecture.
Herrera also mentioned that the project for the total change of the asphalt layer on the road is in the contracting process. This work, which has a budget of $ 1,300,000, is scheduled to be carried out from January 2022.
“We hope that the lords of Epmaps will not damage the road again, we have notified with offices of the beginning of these works so that they can carry out their works before we begin with the intervention,” added Herrera. (I)
