Immunity against the delta strain of coronavirus does not guarantee protection against omicron. This, according to TASS, was stated by a specialist in especially dangerous infections, an immunologist Vladislav Zhemchugov.
“Why do they (coronavirus – approx. Rosbalt) get sick again? Because it already differs very much in the very region of the viral particle, where the action of vaccine immunity, protective antibodies is concentrated. This S-protein has changed so much that after the “delta” you can get sick with “omicron”, and after “omicron” you can get sick with “delta”,” he noted.
The doctor added that immunity after the transfer of “omicron” will not protect against other strains.
