It is impossible to completely eradicate the coronavirus infection, but epidemiological restrictions may soon be lifted. This was stated by US chief infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci, reports the Financial Times.

“I hope that the time is approaching when enough people will be vaccinated or protected from a previous infection, and COVID-19-related restrictions will soon be a thing of the past,” Fauci said. At the same time, he noted that regional health services can resume restrictive measures in the event of new outbreaks of the disease.

The American expert also said that the timing of revaccination against coronavirus should depend on the state of health of each person. “If you are a normal, healthy 30-year-old with no underlying medical conditions, you may only need a revaccination every four or five years,” he said.

Earlier it became known that the Swedish government from February 9 will lift all restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. After the restrictions are lifted, people will no longer be required to undergo PCR testing when they develop symptoms of a cold. The authorities explained this step by the high level of vaccination in the country.
