83.8% of suppliers that sell to the State through electronic catalogs are mypes

Micro and small businesses (mypes) represented 83.8% of the suppliers that during 2021 sold to the State through the Electronic Catalogs of the Public Procurement Center – Peru Shopping, according to the entity’s statistical bulletin. In addition, the acquisitions to this economic sector correspond to 71% of the amount contracted through the aforementioned virtual tool.

According to statistics from Perú Compras, 1,784 mypes completed 94,123 purchase orders through electronic catalogs last year. In detail, 1,687 suppliers were classified as microenterprises and 97 as small businesses.

Likewise, the general figures indicate that 2,128 suppliers —classified as mypes, non-mypes and others— provided goods and services to 1,881 public entities, such as regional governments, regional directorates, ministries, provincial and district municipalities, public universities, police and military instances, social programs, among others.

Another noteworthy fact from the report is that the delivery time for goods purchased via electronic catalogs was four to eight days on average. What’s more, 13.4% of suppliers met the demands for products in their own locations (local supplier) and 86.6% of suppliers delivered the products in other regions (non-local supplier).

Contracts by package were demanded in ten electronic catalogs; of them, the largest amount contracted corresponded to desktop computers with S/ 60 million 49,000.
