Planned outpatient care for children, patients with cancer and those who need kidney replacement therapy should not be suspended during the spread of coronavirus, according to a message published by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

The statement notes that the provision of planned medical care to “children, as well as patients with oncological, oncohematological diseases, patients in need of renal replacement therapy” is under “special control of the department”.

The day before, the government of the Russian Federation approved changes to the CHI program, which allow regional authorities to suspend the provision of planned outpatient medical care during the spread of coronavirus. The Ministry of Health emphasized that in such cases, the regions should approve “a clear list of medical organizations that temporarily do not provide planned medical care” and temporarily redirect patients to other organizations.

In addition, it is impossible to suspend the issuance of preferential medicines, referrals for high-tech medical care and sanatorium treatment, the department added.

Recall, last week it was reported that the provision of planned medical care due to the spread of coronavirus was limited or suspended by almost two-thirds of Russian regions – 54 out of 85.
