Russia is promoting a distorted interpretation of the Minsk agreements, diplomats from the US embassy in Ukraine have said. The corresponding statement was published on the page of the diplomatic department on Twitter.

“In particular, the Kremlin insists on the “autonomy” of the Russian-controlled Donbass, although nowhere in the Minsk agreements is the word “autonomy” mentioned.

The diplomats also noted that Ukraine “repeatedly tried to conscientiously implement Minsk, including every year passing a law on a special status.” At the same time, Russia, they said, “is violating the ceasefire, refusing to solve this and other problems, and pretending not to be a party to the conflict that it has fomented.”

Recall, earlier US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine fulfills “most of the requirements of the Minsk agreements”, while Russia “has not fulfilled almost any of its obligations.” In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of failing to comply with the agreements.
