Marriage is an important step in the life of every human being, so you must plan it in advance and make sure you meet the following necessary requirements so that you can carry it out without problems.
In Ecuador, the Civil Registry is in charge of the marriage process and carrying out the act. Legalize the solemn contract by which a couple unite in order to live together.
What are the requirements to get married?
- Being over 18 years.
- Scheduling and printing of the online shift for the marriage interview.
- Original and copy of identity card of the contracting parties.
- Original and copy of the identity card of the two witnesses.
- Amount of the procedure: $50 if the civil marriage takes place in the Civil Registry, or $250 if it takes place outside.
- If the marriage takes place outside the Civil Registry agency, a sketch of the place where the ceremony will be held must be presented.
The Civil Registry recommends scheduling the date of marriage with a minimum of 15 days in advance and a maximum of one month prior to the desired date.
I am a foreigner and I wish to marry an Ecuadorian
- Original of the passport with valid visa (Visa type 12 or 10), Andean nations card or refugee card of the foreign spouse.
- Certificate of civil status and nationality.
- Affidavit of marital status and nationality if the foreign spouse has a refugee, stateless or asylee immigration status.
- They can only be married civilly in the main offices of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca.
For the marriage, the shift must be scheduled on the Civil Registry website, select the option Shift Scheduling and select Shift scheduling other services. Remember that you must have an account created in the system.
Once the shift has been scheduled and printed, one of the spouses must go to the authorized offices of the Civil Registry to present the requirements and specify the date of the marriage.
Subsequently, the amount of the procedure must be paid.
On the day of the wedding at the Civil Registry, only the bride and groom and their two witnesses can attend.
