Belarusian Ambassador to Yerevan Alexander Konyuk was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry. This was reported to Novosti-Armenia by Vahan Hunanyan, press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry. The reasons for the visit were not given by the ministry.
The day before, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview with Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov, said that most of the countries of the post-Soviet space, including Armenia, which, according to him, “have nowhere to go,” can join the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
In response to these words, Hunanyan wrote on his Facebook page: “We are sure that the original geopolitical analyzes of the President of Belarus are aimed primarily at serving their own domestic political agenda and have nothing to do with Armenia and its foreign policy.”
The Armenian newspaper “Past” notes that “such statements are not made by chance.” “According to our data, the topic of the union state is being actively discussed on the sidelines of the Armenian authorities. Moreover, concrete steps are being taken, meetings are being held, ”the publication emphasizes.
