The third president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, called on his compatriots to calm and unite. He posted the statement on his Facebook page.
In it, Yushchenko noted that Ukraine is going through difficult, but important and significant times for the country. He stressed that in the history of any state there are turning points when the most important decisions are made. In his opinion, such a moment has come for Ukraine right now.
Among the priorities of Ukrainians, he attributed security, stability and the protection of democracy, and in conclusion of his post he called on fellow citizens to calm down and unite around national values.
The post got 12,000 likes and nearly a thousand comments.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address to compatriots, urged them not to panic and not to “buy buckwheat and matches.” He stressed that Ukraine does not want war, but must always be ready for it. According to him, the only reason to panic is “if after eight years of war we still succumb to panic.”
