Two students were assaulted in the south of Quito while boarding their school route

After 06:00 this Tuesday, February 8, two students awaited the arrival of their tour Along with his mother, the driver of the yellow school bus arrived at the intersection of the streetss Juan de Ávila and Pedro Collazos, in the Pio XII sector, south of the capital but did not realize that three people were watching his arrival.

Upon entering the vehicle they were approached by three criminals. With firearms they threatened to the driver and family. Edgar Cali the gun was pointed at his ribs. “There one told me that if he doesn’t collaborate, he shoots us. I told him take what you want, but don’t do anything to us”, pointed out the driver of the school unit.

Cali pointed out that They took his wallet and cell phone. Also cell phones students from the Spellman school in Cumbayá, a computer and the money they had. Later, they went to the study center, from where they reported the emergency to ECU911.

According Edgar Insuasti, manager of the Pichincha School Transportation Consortium, the Police arrived at the school, but they failed to activate an operation, since the assault occurred in another sector. “They explained to us that the complaint should be made where the assault took place,” he added.

The rector of the Cardenal Spellman Private Educational Unit, Eddy Apollo informed this newspaper that the students are physically stable. In addition, he stressed that the complaint had already been filed with the Prosecutor’s Office and that Social Work will provide psychological help to affected students.

Insuasti argued that school carriers are exposed to this type of criminal acts. However, he stressed the importance of all school transport operators and parents having an application to maintain secure communication and avoid exposing yourself to further assaults.
