An inmate of the maximum security pavilion was found dead this Tuesday morning inside the El Rodeo prison, located in the Riochico de Portoviejo parish.
Rodny Chávez, commander of Manabí police subzone 13, confirmed the death of the inmate, whose name was not released until this morning.

“It is presumed that he took his own life… he has a furrow around his neck, and he was confined in the maximum security cell,” said Chavez.
The police chief stated that the incident is still under investigation.
He ruled out that said death is caused by a violent act inside the prison with the largest number of inmates in Manabí.
After the alert, police teams moved inside the prison to carry out the respective inquiries prior to transferring the body to the local morgue.
The deceased inmate was in a maximum security pavilion of the Manabi prison, it was reported. (I)
