Some 2,772 people residing in Montecristi received this Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6, vaccines corresponding to first doses, second doses and booster doses against COVID-19.
This campaign will continue until next weekend with the purpose of immunizing a greater number of inhabitants of this canton, the one considered as the one with the least application of vaccines in its population in relation to the 21 remaining cantons of Manabí.
The low number of vaccinated caused the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to include Montecristi among the 21 cantons with red traffic lights.
The governor of Manabí himself, Juan Francisco Núñez, was part of the authorities that accompanied the health personnel to carry out the immunization of people in fifteen sectors of Montecristi.
Among the sectors visited were Colorado, El Chorrillo, La Sequita, Los Bajo, Río Bravo, Artesanos, Estancia, Las Palmas, El Arroyo, the town of Montecristi, among others.

“This campaign will be carried out until February 13 in the Montecristi canton, especially in the rural area where we were on Saturday 5 visiting the community of El Chorrillo, and we were able to verify that they have obtained good results,” said Núñez.
In some cases, there were observations made to health personnel, since they took the data from those who had to immunize with the Pfizer dose to apply the biologicals, after completing a user base, but several remained pending the call of the brigades to complete the process.
The population projection for Montecristi is 107,231 inhabitants, the MSP’s target population is to immunize 97,495 people, but as of January 28, only 38.3% of the target population had been immunized, according to statistical data from the coordination zone 4 of the MSP.
In Montecristi, 43,099 have been inoculated with first doses, 37,341 with second doses and 4,857 with booster doses. (I)
