On Sakhalin, Alexei Uspensky, Minister of Economic Development of the regional government, was removed from his post, the press service of the regional administration reports.
A criminal case has been opened against Uspensky for negligence in the exercise of his official powers, he has been suspended for the duration of the official investigation, the report says.
The case was initiated after a prosecutor’s check on the fact of unreasonable spending of budget funds. Investigators found that Alexei Uspensky, during his tenure as minister in 2018, signed an act of acceptance and transfer of the Aqua City water and recreation complex, which was unsuitable for operation due to shortcomings in the installed equipment. Uspensky, before accepting the complex, did not create an acceptance committee and did not organize an examination to verify the work of the contractor.
As a result, the Aqua-City complex was not put into operation for a long time, while budget money was allocated and spent for its maintenance. The budget of the Sakhalin region suffered damage in the amount of more than 96 million rubles.
