Azerbaijan, if desired, can use Ukrainian gas. This statement was made by Deputy Energy Minister of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov, RIA Novosti reports.

“The use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities in the operation of the Southern Gas Corridor will help strengthen the energy security of Europe,” Demchenkov stressed. He added that “reversals based on the Trans-Balkan pipeline and the use of huge underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine can help increase gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the EU and further strengthen the reliability of natural gas supplies to the region.”

Recall, earlier it was reported that the EU countries are discussing with Azerbaijan, Qatar and the United States the possibility of increasing gas supplies in case of problems with its supplies from Russia. In addition, the media wrote that the United States and the European Union are considering among the options for sanctions that could be imposed against the Russian Federation in the event of an aggravation of the situation around Ukraine, a ban on the largest Russian banks from conducting some interbank transactions in dollars.
