How to properly clean AirPods

Airpods are one apple wireless headphones that are synchronized by Bluetooth with a mobile phone, tablet or a computer.

AirPods have become a global successand even many people have been encouraged to buy them without having an iPhone, since their design is comfortable, elegant and without cables. If you have some AirPods, you may be wondering what is the best method to clean them. We are going to show you how to do it, always following Apple’s official recommendations and instructions.

What will you need to clean your AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max

· A rag leave no residue or lint

· Some swabs for the ears

· A brush with soft bristles

· Isopropyl alcohol 70% or 75% ethyl alcohol

Discs of cotton (optional)

To clean both the surface of the case as of the AirPods themselves just rub the dry cloth. Remember that both the cloth and the rest of the instruments you use must be completely dry. Not even a drop of liquid can get inside the earpiece or earphones. Avoid the use of disinfectant liquidswater or some special liquid, even alcohol, do not use it to clean the slots at any time as it could accidentally enter and spoil them immediately.

To clean the slots and grids well, just gently pass a cotton swab. Don’t forget that you have to be completely dry!

To remove any remaining residue, pass a soft-bristled brush over all the grids very gently. Do not try to rub or undo stains with the brush, since you can damage your headphones. Do it subtly, with hardly any effort.

We will use the alcohol once we have gone over all the surfaces with a clean cloth. We will moisten a cotton pad with alcohol and go over all the surfaces from the outside. The alcohol will disinfect them and remove any dirt that we have not been able to remove with the cloth or with the ear swab. Of course, we advise you to be very careful when going over your case and headphones with alcohol, always do it from the outside and clean the surfaces so that no liquid enters the openings.

What you should NEVER do when cleaning your AirPods

Never use sharp objects to remove traces of dirt from the grilles of your headphones. A lot of people don’t know this, but doing that will damage the grid, since this will introduce more dirt inside your headphones and you will no longer hear well through them. This is the temptation of people when they see a little dirt that has been cornered in the grille of a headset or in a corner of the case. From here we already tell you that nothing to fall into that temptation to use the tip of a pen, pencil or pin to remove that dirt, so you could damage both the headset and the case itself.

Surely when you see traces of ear wax on the grid you think that the fastest trick is to remove it with a toothpick or a pin, but this is a risk that you should not take. to remove it use the soft bristle brush that we have advised you at the beginning of this article.

Another piece of advice we give you is to do not use any sticky dough to remove dirt at once. On social networks, many people share homemade tricks like this one, using the typical adhesive putty popularly known as Blu-tack. But in some cases we have also seen people complain that this dirt not only does not stick to the putty, which is the intention at first, but that it sticks even more to the corner or somewhere on the earpiece grille. or the case. Both for our part and Apple’s, we do not recommend it.

We also tell you thator do you have to be very obsessed with cleaning the AirPods. Cleaning them in excess can deteriorate them, so cleaning very occasionally is better. It must be clear that you will never have the AirPods as clean as the first day. Of course, with a but good cleaning you will be able to prevent society from accumulating.
