THIS MESSAGE (MATERIAL) IS CREATED AND (OR) DISTRIBUTED BY A FOREIGN MASS MEDIA PERFORMING THE FUNCTIONS OF A FOREIGN AGENT AND (OR) A RUSSIAN LEGAL ENTITY PERFORMING THE FUNCTIONS OF A FOREIGN AGENT.

Broadcasting and broadcasting of the Deutsche Welle television and radio company in Russia will be stopped, and its correspondent points will be closed. Appropriate measures were taken by the Russian authorities in response to the blocking of the broadcasting of the RT DE TV channel in Germany. This is stated in a release on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The statement states that the decision to implement the “first stage of response measures” was a reaction to the “unfriendly actions of the Federal Republic of Germany” to ban satellite and other broadcasts of the German-language television channel RT DE.

Thus, it is planned to close the DW correspondent office in Russia, cancel the accreditation of all employees of the DW Russian bureau, and stop satellite and other broadcasting of the television and radio company in Russia.

Moreover, the issue of recognizing Deutsche Welle as a media-foreign agent will be considered.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also indicated that a list of representatives of state and public structures of Germany involved in restricting the broadcasting of RT DE and “other pressure on the Russian media operator” would be drawn up, who would be banned from entering Russia.

The day before, we recall, the German media regulator said that the Russian state television channel RT began broadcasting live without a license, so its broadcasting should be stopped. Eva Flecken, director of the media department for Berlin and Brandenburg, explained that the German branch of RT did not request or receive a license from its management. The actions of the regulator may result in a fine of up to 500 thousand euros.

RT Deputy Editor-in-Chief Anna Belkina said that RT DE Productions will appeal this ban in court, and the channel itself will continue its broadcasts from the capital.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also reminded the day before that the German side had repeatedly indicated the unacceptability of exerting “politically motivated pressure” on the Russian media operator. If Berlin refuses to find a constructive solution to this problem, countermeasures will be taken, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned.
