The Moscow District Court of Kaliningrad exacted monetary compensation in favor of the son of Ivan Vshivkov, who died in the police department. The minor will receive 500 thousand rubles.
Recall that in October 2019, Ivan Vshivkov was taken to the police department on suspicion of petty hooliganism and locked in a cell where the heating system was damaged. When the battery burst in the cell, Vshivkov received terrible burns on almost the entire surface of his body. He screamed and asked for help, but no one answered. The man died in the hospital.
At the trial, ex-policeman Alexander Ivanov, who was on duty at the department that day, said that he ignored the cries because of his own professional deformation. He explained that detainees often behave inappropriately. The leader, shift supervisor Nikolai Plebukh, said that he had several times demanded that Ivanov open the cell, but he did not respond. Ivanov said that he did not hear orders.
As a result, two former employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moskovsky district of Kaliningrad, Nikolai Plebukh and Alexander Ivanov, were tried. They were found guilty of negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced to two and a half and two years in prison in a penal colony.
In the interests of her son, the ex-wife of the deceased went to court demanding compensation for non-pecuniary damage.
By a court decision in favor of the minor son, an amount of 500 thousand rubles was collected.
The decision has not entered into force.
Earlier, by decision of the Central District Court, 2 million rubles were recovered in favor of the widow, parents and daughter of the deceased.
