The former editor-in-chief of the opposition Telegram channel NEXTA, Roman Protasevich, who was detained in Belarus after a forced landing of the plane in May last year, decided to file a lawsuit against Ryanair. He spoke about this in his video message on YouTube.

Roman did not share the details of the lawsuit, however, he called on other passengers who flew with him on that flight to join the implementation of this idea. He also stated that he was ready to present “documented evidence” of his words.

As a reminder, a Ryanair plane flying from Athens to Vilnius made an emergency landing in Minsk on May 23, 2021 due to a false report of mining. The Belarusian authorities detained Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend, a Russian citizen Sofia Sapega, who were flying on this flight. At the end of June, the Investigative Committee of Belarus reported that Protasevich and Sapieha were confessing.

Later, when he was released, he announced that he was getting a job at the pro-government human rights organization Systemic Human Rights.
