As part of an urgent act and after the computer attack on a system of the National Transit Agency (ANT), the Prosecutor’s Office, this Friday morning, raided the offices of this agency located north of Quito. At the moment, the crime of attacking the integrity of computer systems is being investigated in advance.
Last Thursday, the ANT authorities reported the attack on the Axis system, which would have prevented the addresses from provincial governments and Decentralized Autonomous Governments can comply with procedures such as the delivery of licenses and vehicle registrations on a regular basis. The attack on the AXIS system occurred 24 hours after the ANT had established computer security measures to prevent the sale of shifts by processors and a few hours after the implementation of other 50,000 regulatory processes to annul: the fraudulent increase of points, the illicit delivery of professional and non-professional licenses and the cancellation of 100,000 vehicle registration processes delivered without the payment of the corresponding fines, which constitutes an evasion of millions of dollars to the State.
