The documentary film “The Romanov Case. The investigation established … ”, demonstrating the results of the investigation resumed in 2015 into the circumstances of the death of the royal family. As specified, all members of the royal family of the Romanovs were shot at the same time. Previously, a number of researchers believed that 11 people, along with members of the firing squad, could not fit in a small room. Thus, the Investigative Committee finally confirmed the authenticity of the “Yekaterinburg remains” of members of the Romanov family.
In an interview with MK, Vladimir Solovyov, a retired senior forensic investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, gave an assessment of the film.
The publication clarifies that Solovyov led the investigation into the “tsarist case” for more than 20 years – from the moment the case was initiated (1993) to November 2015.
He said that the investigation, resumed on September 23, 2015, was put in a very tight time frame, while the church was most interested in the question of a possible “ritual” murder associated with the removal of heads. In the shortest possible time, the experts completed the full range of genetic studies. And church authorities were fully informed about their progress and results.
According to Solovyov, the results fully confirmed the previous conclusions of the investigation, and further research on this could be stopped and the royal children could be buried with dignity. However, he added, the church decided to delay the investigation as long as possible.
“Realizing that this number would not have worked with me, Patriarch Kirill asked to remove me from the investigation, and they met him halfway. It’s no secret that the investigation has since been conducted in the interests of a single person – Patriarch Kirill. Why did the Investigative Committee, like that non-commissioned officer’s widow, “flog itself”, nullifying the results of a large and productive activity of a huge team of experts? There is only one answer: in order to protect the reputation of today’s church leaders, who for almost 30 years have struggled with the conclusions of scientists, ”the forensic scientist believes.
So, Solovyov considered the forensic medical examination conducted as part of the resumed investigation to be of poor quality. In his opinion, deniers of the authenticity of the remains “will definitely take advantage” of its “doubtful results.”
“Mistakes”, according to him, were allowed by experts in regard to “the injuries allegedly discovered by them on the skull of Nicholas II.” He also mentioned the story of two teeth found in a burial opened in 1991. Solovyov recalled that Vyacheslav Popov, who this time was in charge of the new forensic medical examination, “for almost 30 years, acted as an irreconcilable fighter against the conclusions of the investigation into the identification of the Romanovs.”
So, for example, Popov previously stated that the teeth found could not belong to any of the nine dead, Solovyov pointed out, explaining that there are expert examination results proving that they belonged to Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna. However, it is now being argued that they most likely belong to Tsarevich Alexei.
“Another obvious blunder is present in the film itself,” Solovyov added. – Anthropologist Dobrovolskaya says there that during the anthropological examination, some changes were found in the bones of the Tsarevich, indicating a disease with hemophilia. At the same time, she names the object of study: according to Dobrovolskaya, this is a fragment of Alexei’s femur. Among the fragments found in the Porosenkov Log area in 2007, there is indeed a single fragment of a femur. But it does not belong to the Tsarevich, but to Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna! And of course, she had no signs of hemophilia. In women, it does not appear outwardly at all. ”
According to the criminologist, from the point of view of forensic medicine, the result of the new investigation is “not even zero, but negative.”
