Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Natalya Poklonskaya from the post of Russian Ambassador to Cape Verde and appointed her deputy head of the Federal Agency for the CIS, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo). It is reported by Interfax.
Poklonskaya commented on the appointment with the words that her priority in the department is the protection of the rights of compatriots, “in particular in Ukraine.”
Recall that on January 19, Natalya Poklonskaya announced that she would not hold the post of ambassador, because her “personal circumstances had changed.” After that appointment, they joked on the Web that Natalia, who was independent in her views, was “exiled” to the resort.
Later, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, made it clear that the Kremlin had not yet agreed on candidates to replace Poklonskaya as ambassador to Cape Verde.
From May 2014 to October 2016, she served as Prosecutor of Crimea. Then Poklonskaya was elected to the State Duma of the VII convocation. She refused to participate in the parliamentary elections held last year.
