More than 800 million rubles were stolen in the process of equipping Sapsan high-speed trains with Internet access. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to data provided by the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office.
The fact of theft was revealed during the check of the rights of consumers, carried out after the appeals of passengers.
“In the course of the prosecutor’s check, facts of overestimation of the cost of work, as well as their improper execution, were revealed,” the publication reports. “At the same time, the contractor under the contracts unlawfully included in his costs the cost of equipment that had already been installed on trains earlier.”
It should be noted that the amount of the contract for the provision of Internet access services, which Russian Railways concluded in 2017 and 2019, exceeded 1.5 billion rubles.
The Northern Transport Prosecutor sent to the investigation department of the linear department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at the Moscow-Leningradskaya station the materials of the check to resolve the issue of criminal prosecution, which became the basis for initiating a criminal case on fraud on an especially large scale.
