The Netherlands and Ukraine have agreed on mutual assistance in the event of a hypothetical “Russian invasion” that is expected in Kiev any day. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, summing up the results of the talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Vopke Hoekstroy.

The ministers paid special attention to strengthening the defense capability of Ukraine, including the supply of defensive weapons to it, work to bring to justice those responsible for the downing of the MH17 passenger jet, cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and “countering Russian disinformation.”

The fact that the Netherlands will offer Ukraine technical assistance in the fight against cyber attacks is also stated in a joint statement by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom Mark Rutte and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, published on the website of the Dutch government. The topic of countering cyber threats has been especially important for Ukraine since January 14, 2022, when a number of Ukrainian government websites were attacked by a cyberattack. The Security Service of Ukraine reported that hackers posted provocative messages on the main pages of the hacked sites, simultaneously assuring fellow citizens that there was no leakage of personal data.
